Crèche
The „Uniwersyteckie Maluchy” [eng. “University Toddlers”] workplace crèche is an intimate facility intended for 15 children. The Crèche began its activity on 1 October 2013. It was established thanks to funding from the Human Capital Operational Programme. Until 31 December 2014 the Crèche was funded by the European Social Fund, then from 1 January 2015, funding was fully taken over by the University of Warsaw.

The UW Workplace Crèche has been entered in the Register of Crèches and Kid’s Clubs kept by the President of the City of Warsaw under number 116/Z/2013.
The Crèche’s concept of work is based on the “Quality Standards for the Care and Development of Children under 3 Crèche – will be opened in a new window”, developed by a team of experts and practitioners appointed by the Comenius Foundation for Child Development. Among the main concepts are:
- creating a child-friendly place that ensures a safe and at the same time stimulating, environment for the child’s proper development;
- creating positive experiences and a secure relationship with adults in the earliest period of a child’s life, which provide the foundations for their further development;
- meeting the young child’s biological and emotional needs dependent on the way in which different everyday situations are organised;
- ensuring the conditions promoting free play and providing opportunities for movement so that the young child develops well;
- parents’ active participation in the life of the Crèche as the most important people in their child’s life.
The Crèche is open 12 months a year, Monday to Friday from 7:00 to 17:00, and provides nursing and childcare services for children aged between seven months and three years. All children are staying in one mixed-age group.
A child can stay in the Crèche for a maximum of 9 hours a day, and those hours are flexible to adjust to the parents’ needs.
The food is provided by a catering company. It consists of three meals a day: breakfast, a two-course lunch and an afternoon snack. There is also a possibility:
- to choose meals depending on the child’s hours of stay in the Crèche;
- of parents providing modified or breast milk in special containers.
In the facility there are three childcare workers who are supervised by the Crèche Director, which in addition to providing professional support, monitors the fulfilment of the quality standards for working with children, and is also responsible for compliance with health safety rules in accordance with the following guidelines:
