UW aid to flood victims
As a result of the floods in southern Poland, hundreds of people have lost all their possessions. Many cities and villages have been flooded, there is no electricity, no gas, no drinking water, and the landline telephone network has been broken. The most challenging situation can be observed in the Lower Silesian, Opole and Silesian Voivodeships.
In connection with this cataclysm, the University of Warsaw authorities have organised a collection to help flood victims and have also prepared a support package for students from the affected areas. The UW Chancellor Robert Grey together with dr hab. Maciej Raś, the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Quality of Teaching, coordinate humanitarian action on the part of the University.
The University of Warsaw authorities have launched a collection of essential supplies for those affected by the floods. Private and institutional donors can join the campaign. Donated items should be unused and appropriate for autumn conditions. Currently, the most needed things are food items with a long shelf life, drinking water, hygiene products, clothing, blankets, sleeping bags, shovels, wheelbarrows, rubber boots and power generators.
