1.  GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Financial aid constitutes non-refundable financial support.
  • Financial aid applications are accepted exclusively in paper form (Monday–Friday, 8:00 – 16:00).
  • Duly completed applications together with the necessary attachments submitted to the Office for Personnel Social Benefits [pl. BSSOC] are examined, taking into account the regulations contained in the University Social Benefits Fund Rules and Regulations, by the Financial Aid Committee appointed by the Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Human Resources.
  • Detailed rules for the financial aid application are set out in Chapter VI, § 15 – § 18 of the University Social Benefits Fund Rules and Regulations: [Rules and Regulations ]
  • Fridays are designated as internal working days.

2.  WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE IT?

Financial support shall be granted to the eligible persons listed below in specific cases:

2.1  Employees / pensioners / disability pensioners of the University of Warsaw

They may apply for a financial aid in the event of:

  • fortuitous event (flood, fire, theft);
  • disease;
  • death of a family member,
  • natural disaster;
  • particularly difficult financial situation which does not allow them to meet their basic living needs;
  • childbirth;
  • covering funeral expenses in the event of the death of a UW employee or UW pensioner/disability pensioner;

2.2 Doctoral students (enrolled in UW doctoral schools)

They may apply for a financial aid in the event of:

  • fortuitous event (flood, fire, theft);
  • disease;
  • particularly difficult financial situation which does not allow them to meet their basic living needs;

2.3  Children of deceased UW employees/pensioners/disability pensioners

Parents or legal guardians of the children of deceased UW employees/pensioners/disability pensioners and adult children of deceased UW employees/ pensioners/disability pensioners studying at school or university – until the end of their studies, but no longer than until the end of the year in which they reach the age of 25, upon presentation of a certificate proving the fact of studying at school or university.

They may apply for a financial aid in the event of:

  • fortuitous event (e.g., flood, fire, theft);
  • disease;
  • death of a parent or legal guardian.
  • particularly difficult financial situation which does not allow them to meet their basic living needs;
  • periodic financial aid – § 18 of the University Social Benefits Fund Rules and Regulations [link]

2.4  Persons covering the funeral expenses of a UW employee/ pensioner/ disability pensioner

A person not affiliated with the University of Warsaw who covers funeral expenses in the event of the death of a UW employee/ pensioner /disability pensioner may apply for financial aid.

3. SPECIAL CASES

IMPORTANT:

Pursuant to § 15, section 2, points 2-4 of the University Social Benefits Fund Rules and Regulations, applications for financial aid for employees, pensioners, disability pensioners and doctoral students of the University of Warsaw may also be submitted by:

 

  • a head of the UW organisational unit in which the entitled beneficiary is or was employed;
  • a member of the university or faculty trade union bodies active at the University of Warsaw;
  • the member of the Senate Committee for Social Affairs.

4. MEETING DATES OF THE FINANCIAL AID COMMITTEE

IMPORTANT:

Applications to be considered by a given Commission must be submitted no later than two working days prior to the scheduled date of its meeting.
